I have the original November 1988 issue with article on Finite State
Machines if someone wants a copy. I can fax you a copy or I can scan it in.
Does anybody have a good idea how to send something that has been scanned?
JPG, GIF, etc? Want something that everyone could read.

No.  It is not available on any of the CD's or the web copy of the
reference library (which contains newer additions each month but no
more historical articles).

I don't have a copy either, but if you do a web search on "finite
state machine" you will find lots of interesting stuff.  Here is one
link you could use as a starting point:
