I have several programs, and several copes active at a time, that take
input and write to a data queue. We have several copies of a program
running in batch that processes these records and returns a keyed response
to another data queue. Wow a transaction processed in less than a second.
These batch jobs run in a dedicated subsystem with dedicated memory and a
high run priority, 15. This is our authorization system. The batch
programs have 20-30 files open, several modules that are called. To added
this to each of the interface programs would take up huge amounts of memory
and be difficult to reset after a programming change. This is a very fast
way to do transaction processing. Oh did I mention that several of the
programs that write to the data queues are on UNIX and NT!

Much much faster than dynamic or static calls, easier to reset the
application. The user interface is separate from the processing. The
processing programs can be monitored easily.

Use the QSNDDTAQ and QRCVDTAQ APIs to write/read the data queues.
Documentation can be found in the OS400 CL programming book.

How do I use DTAQ's between two RPG programs to exchange data ?

Today we use a physical file with the write, read, delete method.

Can't find anything about DTAQ's in the RPG IV manuals.....

Whats the benefit of using DTAQ's anyway ?
