This makes sense - I don't have to like it, but it makes sense. I was
thinking along the lines that the DS was 70 and not that the specific
field was 10. I've solved the problem using a pointer to the DS and
then defining DAYS as a stand-alone array based on that pointer. It
accomplishes the original purpose. I wanted to know why the original
technique wouldn't work and I just wasn't seeing it. Thanks.

As it had no relevance to the question, the code was not included to keep
the size of the message to a minimum.
