Technical school

I was at the midrange computing site and saw in the salary survey that a
person with two years of technical college is at a different salary level
than a person with an associate degree.  In my area a two year college and
an associate degree are one and the same.  Is it different in other parts of
the country?

I apologize for this not being an RPG code question but this mailing list is
the only place I can think might have the answer.
