My original point had to do with the use of the word "legacy", but I
suppose it raised the hair of some.

The rant has it's roots in my direct involvement with an upcoming ERP
implementation using a top vendor. This vendor has spewed forth the term
until gagging has nearly occurred on my part.

Now as we get deep in the details, it's becoming apparent to me that many
arguments against "legacy" are specious. The wonderful new system is a
marvelous representation of today's current technology---it's bug-laden,
resource intensive, poorly documented, poorly supported, hard to manage,
etc. I shouldn't complain though, I suppose, since we're getting the system
for only 4 million dollars.

Maybe I'm crazy, but that old D.H. Dial GL application, you know the legacy
system, now seems pretty solid to me.

Given this, the ENIAC info, after reading this thread of God Awful coding
examples and the legacy comments, I just couldn't hold it in anymore.

The bottom line is I have grown to hate that word. End of that. Maybe a
vacation is in order? :-)>
