        As you wrote, 'There are many ways.'
        As many midrange users don't necessarily have source code to
make that 'quick mod'. The original Spoolfile may be all that is
available. You are correct that the Spoolfile itself would result in a
flat text format. The Spoolfile will never give packed or binary values
though. The macros within Excel can easily format the data. Even delete
the headings or convert them to Excel headings. My macros automate the
data retrieval, format the values, calculate results and print to the
printer. The AS/400 only needs to generate the data.
