Check DSCTMR (Disconnect Timer parameter) for APPC *CTLD.
If you have SWTDSC(*YES) and NO ACTIVE sessions, then after DSCTMR timer
expires, switched line should be dropped.
When line stays up, when you think it should not, check active sessions on APPC
device description - DSPMODSTS command or option 9 from WRKCFGSTS screen. Check
active modes and active sessions. This may give you a clue, what holds your line
up.

(Do you have switched line, by the way ? - disconnect will not work on a leased
line.)

Good luck

Tried your suggestion, but could not change the CPSSN value. That parm
is only for APPN devices, & we're using APPC. Changing the other
entries had no affect (on either end or both ends).

Configure APPC controller with DIALINIT(*DELAY) SWTDSC(*YES) CPSSN(*NO).
DIALINIT(*DELAY) will make line connect only on session request.
SWTDSC(*YES) will drop the line, when no sessions active.
CPSSN(*NO) will disallow permanent session between systems.

Subject: Communication lines

Hello everyone!

I have some dial-up appc communication lines set up to other as/400s for
snads traffic. Unfortunatley, the lines stay actice after the last file
has been transmitted. Is there any way of dropping the line when there
are no active jobs on it?

Thanks,

Bill Brosch
