Thanks!  All I had to do was compile the PRTF using *IPDS instead of the
default, and it worked perfectly.  And you're right, the other printouts do
take longer to print while on IPDS mode.  Thanks again.

Hi Abraham.  I have been down this road.  It has been awhile, but this is
generally what you need to do.

1.  Use DDS to externally describe your print file.  There you can use the
Barcode function to specify the size, format, standard etc. you want to
use.

2. Use CHGDEVD to change the printer to Advance function Print (*YES) and
devtype(*IPDS).

3. I was on V3R7 and had to get a PTF to get our 6400 to print barcodes.
Search the IBM online databases for WRKAFP2.

4.  You may want to write a CL that allows users to switch AFP on and off
if
you are printing other than IPDS stuff on the printer.  While non IPDS will
print fine in AFP mode, the printer writer takes longer to process all
spool
files when in AFP mode.
