We've used Jon Paris from halinfo. His email address is Jon.Paris@halinfo.it
All
of the members of our team who went through the course raved about the
instructor.
Even the people who are a little slow to adapt to new technology started diving
right in.

I tried to use the ATS course. It's good as a starter. However no one here
but me
would take the course. Also it doesn't cover procedures at all.

When you make a service program document each neat subprocedure that you write.

Document it into a word processing package so well that they never have to look
at
the code to determine how it works. I use the RPG manual as a reference as to
how
to document. You know, this is MOVE this is it's syntax. This is how you use
it.
Here are some samples. That kind of thing.

Be careful about generic string handling routines. They can be a real
performance
killer. I tried making a 'caps' procedure. The procedure supported strings up
to
32,702. It used the xlate function to do it. You could do the following:
eval field = caps('abc')
However that took a LONG time to run because it had to check all 32,702
characters.
Better to do the xlate function in your own program.
