This may or may not apply to this situation... I don't know if you can FTP a save file (SAVF), but you should be able to FTP a physical file (PF). I've used a technique in the past to email AS/400 libraries by doing a SAVOBJ to a SAVF, then converting the SAVF to a PF, then downloading the PF to a PC, then ZIPping the PC file, then attaching the zipped file to an email.... believe it or not, it usually survives the trip. It requires some CL and RPG to be created on the As/400 to convert the SAVF to the PF one record at a time. I'd be happy to send you the source code. The PF involved is, in fact, 528 bytes long. This method works great for software distribution. It's a pain in the <neck> to set up the first time, but once it's created (the SAVF to PF conversion tools) it's relatively easy.
