When you first write your subfile record you must also include the key to
the PF or relative rec number so that if the user changes info on this
record you can chain back to the original rec in the PF.  (you can put this
info in H (hidden) fields in each subfile record.)

When you readc  save the info into a save rec (ie put the fields in the
subfile into a DS the move the ds to a field the size of the DS.  Next chain
to the PF to retrieve the original record.   Move the saved field back to
the DS name.  Update the PF.

Example:
DS   CURREC                10
          FLD1                  1  5
          FLD2                   6 10


              READC  SUBFILE
              move        CURREC   SAVREC      10
  KEY    CHAIN      PF
               move       SAVREC     CURREC
               update     PF
