You might consider Paul Conte's book, "Database Design and Programming
for DB2/400".  Three chapters from the book are available online at
www.news400.com; go to the Resources tab, then SQL/400 Tutorial and
you will find links three chapters which include embedding SQL/400 in
RPG IV or COBOL/400.

Surprisingly, I didn't see the book listed at out host,
www.midrange.com, but you could get it from the News/400 website or
whereever.
