We're on V3R2, which IBM say is Y2K compliant, I believe. JDE support is a
non-issue for a number of reasons: JDE NZ have provided only minimal
support for some years, for various reasons; the client's business has
changed significantly recently so the manufacturing modules are no longer
used; the modules that are in use (G/L, A/P, A/R, Inventory) are stable,
and the client expects to move off JDE in the "near" future -- say 2001 or
thereabouts.

I am confident the software will continue to work. There may be some
glitches in January, but since this is back-office stuff, no big deal. It's
important not to do a "chicken little" here. Bad things happen and are
fixed all the time.

An example: one of the Dreamwriter-created permanent logical files over
the sales item file mysteriously disappeared. As you know, dreamwriter
programs are written to use the physical; dreamwriter overrides the file to
the correct logical before calling the program. This logical selected
items in "backordered" status. The program to fill back-orders thus ran
over the entire sales order detail file, and all our inventory disappeared.

This is the kind of thing people are talking about happening in January 00.
But it wasn't much of a problem to fix. (We'd like to know how the logical
disappeared, though.)
