WOW! I took the bait and bought a Kingston 480 gig for my desk top
system. When I bought the system in 2011, it was a screamer. But of late,
it's been more of a whisper.

Install the SSD was pretty easy. Cloning the boot drive to the SSD went
without a hitch so the clone software said. Booting from it was another
story and spend quite a bit of time trying to get it working.

Finally I gave up on the clone. Figured since I still had the original
hard drive intact I could always go back to that. So I installed Windows
from scratch onto the SSD.

Wow! Now when I reboot, I don't have time to get a cup of coffee. Used to
be starting quick books took minutes. Now it takes seconds. Starting word
or excel gave me time to drink the coffee I used to get. Now I barely have
time to have a single sip.

My tiered old system has new life in it and is again screaming!

So thank you David for telling us about the great deal on SSD's.

One caution to others. Get the upgrade kit. It has the adaptors and cables
you are going to need to actually install and use the SSD. Could you go
down to the local Fry's and buy only what you need? Well yes. But it was
sure easier to have what I needed right there in the box.

Guess it's why I buy my PC's as a system and don't put it together from
component parts. But if that's your gig, then go for it!
