I had a 5250 app for my old Blackberry. Worked ok. I typed in the server
name and it connected. I figured it got the system name (not normally
available outside our network) by proxying through our blackberry server.
Just downloaded tn5250 by mochasoft for my Android. I had to type in the
ip address instead of the system name. Yuck. At least it connected
internally. I've yet to try it externally. I'm concerned about that. If
it can't find it by name then I wonder if there's any proxy capability.

Being Friday after a holiday, we're kind of running on a skeleton crew...
