When I installed Windows 7 Pro on my Dell Precision M65 laptop, the Dell-supplied video driver crashed, but I found the correct driver in the Microsoft Windows 7 driver library and it worked perfectly.

However, I don't believe that Windows Update found and installed it - I had to manually download it and install it.

On a lot of the systems I've worked with recently, I've not had to
install the motherboard chipset drivers in order to get a working
system. Windows just seemed to figure them out on its own. It's worth
a try!

I may try to skip the driver that came with the motherboard
