Windows XP mode under Windows 7 requires a machine which supports hardware virtualization.

Windows Virtual PC 2007 will also run under Windows 7, but /you/ provide and install the copy of Windows XP in the virtual machine to run it - This is how I am running Windows XP in a virtual machine on my Dell Precision M65 under Windows 7 Pro, since it does not support hardware virtualization.

FYI, according to the Microsoft link provided: "You must have Windows 7
*Professional*, *Enterprise*, or *Ultimate *to run Windows XP Mode." Of
course, most businesses will have one of these versions, but some
companies like get cheap laptops, etc that come preloaded with Home
Premium...just something to be aware of.
