Here's my fix:

looks like you were on the right track of entering the SRV records however
i have adjusted these slightly to match what the google document you have
referenced has suggested.

In their guide they say to replace gmail.com with < your domain name > which
would then take _xmpp-server._tcp.gmail.com as _xmpp-server._
tcp.mikewills.me

When entering the SRV record on our side the ".mikewills.me" is already
suggested so only the first part is required ( or "_xmpp-server._tcp" )
which tells the system the name and protocol to use. As well, since our
system will not allow records to be entered with teh same priority and
weight ( basically a priority of which servers are used first ) I have
adjusted these as needed ( as I see you did when you had entered them ) : )
