On-ear, in-ear, or over-ear?

A word of caution if you look at the Bose offerings: If the battery dies not
only does the noise cancellation stop but the audio from your source device
won't come through either.

With Sony's headphones, if the battery dies you can at least still hear your
source material, just without the benefit of the noise reduction. I have
