Are you talking true streaming or downloadable such as video podcasts,
YouTube, etc.? I am a recent Netflix subscriber and have the Wii option.
So far I'm loving it. Between the DVD and the "streaming" it's enough to
fit into our family schedule. The Netflix Wii option appears to be
on-demand download. Although it might not be their full catalog now, I
see nothing but growth over time. Think of their cost savings in postage
and handling. How could it not grow? You can also download Boxee to pull
together your local media, podcasts, and Internet content. I've briefly
tried it but haven't spent a lot of time with it. I use Snapstream's
BeyondTV as my DVR software. They make a product called BeyondTV Link
which streams your DVRed programs on your LAN. Your local cable provider,
such as Comcast, may also offer on-demand streaming. There's also Apple
TV, which appears to be similar to Boxee. Apple tends to scale back
functionality in favor of preserving a quality experience. There's also
the premium price tag for their products which may also be a factor.

I like the idea of streaming content but Comcast is our capping bandwidth
at 250GB per month. Sure you can use all you want above that for an
additional fee. As streaming movies increase in popularity and go to HD
the amount of streaming data will go up and up making that cap easier and
easier to hit. Luckily, in my market we also have Verizon's Fios which,
as of now, has no caps. I'm getting closer and closer every day to
switching.
