I had very bad luck about a week ago and still am suffering because of
it. I routinely backed up my work PC using Stomp BackUp MyPC 6.0 to an
external hard drive every Tuesday. It creates several .qic files on the
external hard drive and since it is automatically scheduled, it
overwrites the previous backup. On 11/3, my backup was over half way
finished when we received notification that the power company was going
to cut power so we were advised to shutdown all our PCs and therefore I
had to cancel my backup when only 4 of the 7 qic files were completed.
Murphy's Law kicked me later the next day because I my PC would not boot
up because of a missing or corrupt windows file error. When we were
finally able to get the PC to boot up, the document and settings folders
were all empty for every user except the all users folder. Because my
backup did not complete the following day, I am unable to restore since
it cannot complete the creation of the temporary catalog because the
volume table is corrupt. I'm suffering dearly from my flawed backup
scheme (need a second hard drive so I can keep two backups) and now
realize how important these files on really are. Two years ago, I lost
all my home PC information because my PC with the working hard drive and
backup hard drive was stolen when my home was broken into. As you can
see, the odds have not been with me on PC data backups.

Does anyone have any suggestions for recovering my documents and
settings?
