I use Remote Desktop all the time to get to my work PC from home. We do have a VPN connection, so that this is secure. Otherwise you'd have to open up the port forwarding on the router you have at the church, to let you come in. There may be a way to limit that to certain remote IP addresses, but those can probably be spoofed.

It is possible to get a VPN router - used to have one from LinkSys protecting another internal network I worked at. You would probably use the native Windows VPN IPSEC stuff to get in.

We use something called Mobile VPN with SSL Client to get to our internal network from outside. Maybe Google that name.

We have Win/XP. If I do this approach, how I set this up? Do you have a link or more info about this?
