Hmmm that's interesting, thanks Mike ! On a side note, I read yesterday
and today that Google Chrome can now run in IE 8 and it speeds it up by
a factor of 10 or something ?

IIRC, IE 8 made changes to their JavaScript engine to move it to more of
the
"standard". I am sure that is where you are seeing the problems.
