Here in Blue Earth county in MN they take electronics any time. Most
things you need to pay for though. I asked what they did with the hard
drives. At the time they said they demolished them. I like the 50 cal
slug idea. Too bad they are had to come by. Would a 20 guage shot gun
slug work?(or is it 12 gauge that is bigger?)

Good grief. Please don't. You'll just release toxic chemicals

if you do.

Use a screwdriver & remove the circuit board. Snap it in two.
Take a drill
with a bit made for metal & drill 2 or 3 holes through the
platters. After
that it would take Hurculean effort and expense to recover the data.

Then check with your city/county government or waste hauler about
safe
electronics recycling.
