I have Vonage and like it. Its $24/month, which I figured is pretty cheap. I use it for long distance dial-up to an AS/400 and so thats a pretty cheap price. But MagicJack is $20.year?! wow.

I have no exposure to Vonage, so I have nothing to compare with. I believe
that it is cheaper, as there is no monthly cost.

How does it compare with Vonage?

We got one for our son and daughter-in-law as a Christmas gift (at their
request). They use it all the time, and have given up their local phone.
It is saving them money as all they have to have is a high speed internet
connection.

Some downsides are that it takes a second or two to finish the connection
when I am calling them. Sometimes the quality is slightly downgraded,
but
not as bad as a poor cell connection can be.

They like it.
