A Gigabit Patch Cable can be had for 2$. If both PCs have Gigabit
NICs, you can easily get a transfer rate that's faster than your hard
disk.

Those USB Cables are a pure rip-off. They cost a lot more than 2$, and
have a theoretical maximum speed of 480mbit/s, which you'll never
achieve.
