The hard drive on my laptop went flaky on me. I went to CompUSA and bought an
enclosure for the drive. It hooked up to another PC via USB connection. I was
able to get all the information off the drive, bought a new hard drive,
installed the OS, installed user programs and copied the data back onto the
drive
All was well

Well, I just used the old tried and true method to get a laptop drive working
again (at least temporarily, that is...)

1) turn off computer
2) take out hard drive
3) hold drive by the edges
4) slam on flat surface several times
5) reinstall hard disk
6) Back it up as fast as possible!

This is at least the 3rd time I've used this method successfully...
