I haven't sold a domain ... but I did transfer one using GoDaddy ... it
was quite painless.

I simply gave GoDaddy the information on the person I was transferring
the domain to, including his email address, and it got transfered. He
was notified by email that the transfer was initiated and completed the
transfer.
