Booth, if this is a new/scratch install, It would probably be easiest to
just start over.  Do you have SP2 on CD?  Less exposure if you install SP2
that way, and a HECK of a lot faster to boot.

If you're upgrading an existing installation, I'm not sure what your options
are other than backing up your data files, and do a scratch install of XP,
and reinstall all of your apps and then your backed up data.

It was trying to finish installing Service Pack 2, if I understand the
messages correctly.  Somewhere in the process it obliterated the System
Restore points so that isn't a choice either, so far as I can tell.
