I am receiving the message "Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source" when attempting to use an ODBC connection to retrieve data into MS Word 2003 SP2. Our iSeries is at V5R2M0. My iSeries Access is V5R2M0 SI04484.

I trying to mail merge from an iSeries DB file into a Word document. I have tried User, File, and System DSNs with the same results.
Steve,

I've also had problems with Word and Mail Merge accessing data via the Client Access ODBC driver. IIRC, I could get the original creation to work fine, but any attempt to retry resulted in errors. I finally resorted to using MS/Query inside of Excel and then merge the spreadsheet data into Word and it has worked fine since.

I'm on V5R2 as well, but I'm using Word 97; so it's somewhat safe to say a driver problem. I don't do enough of the mail merge to research a solution any further.
