It didn't seem like it was that long ago; a few months or so. Maybe I
read about it somewhere else; I do subscribe to emailings from
TechTarget's Windows and security counterparts in addition to System
[wrong case roman numeral one]. And various other IT security RSS
feeds.

Subject: [PCTECH] Wireless Network Connection replacement (was:
Symanteccorporate AV & Firewall co-existence problems?)

John, per your comments below, I have the paid version of the
WindowsSecrets newsletter, went online and searched the paid version of
the content, but was unable to find any article mentioning a replacement
for Microsoft's Wireless Network Connection.

Do you recall how far back you saw that article? The only hit on
"Wireless Network Connection" (with double quotes) turned up the January
26, 2006 issue, but it only talked about a vulnerability (what MS calls
a feature!) of creating an ad-hoc network under certain conditions
without you knowing about it. Searching on the same terms without the
double quotes gave 44 hits, but none of the summaries indicated that
they were talking about "Wireless Network Connection".

TIA,
Dan

back issue. Normally, you're stuck with Window's built-in app or one
that comes with the WiFi card but I think there may be 1 or 2 3rd
party tools out there.
