At least in Word 2000 is an Insert menu, where you can insert a field. There are several categories, including "Document Information". Select "Filename" from this category. Maybe put it in a footer on the last page.

For Excel, I just looked up "file_name" and came up with this formula

=CELL("filename")

If the worksheet is not saved, this returns blank. But once the worksheet saved, this formula has the full path and even sheet info the next time you open the worksheet.

Hi Folks,

Just had a question from a user about something that would be nice but not
sure if there is a way to do it. Know we always used to do this manually
years back at my previous employer but wasn't sure if Microsoft had added
this. They want to have the location where the Word document of Excel
spreadsheet is saved, appended to the bottom of said file. Is this possible
?

Thanks !
