Now, all I have to do is locate the blasted link that showed up when I first entered the search criteria yesterday. I have customized Windows Update and the Catalog is now available. Unfortunately, there are zero results when I start from the beginning with any search.

Obviously, someone saw that I got a hit yesterday and also saw that I couldn't get to it. SOP is clearly to remove those keywords from their search engine when they realize someone found them.

Ah, well.

At the moment, I have completely uninstalled the display adapter (and wonder exactly how display manages to keep working after reboot; generic driver, I suppose). Since I still get the same error,... ???

Time to track down an expert, I suppose.

John,

Glad to try that. Frustration (and less than obvious options) sometimes makes me blind.

Thanks much.

Tom,
Go to Windows update from any PC that you can connect. On the left,
select Personalize Windows Update. The first option should be to show
the Windows Update Catalog. Update it. When it gets back to the original
screen, you should see the update catalog on the left. When you select
the Update Catalog, you will be able to search for OS updates as well
as Hardware and driver updates by OS. Of course, on occasion, the Win98,
and 98SE options drop off.
