Walden:

Hope I wasn't seeming too much against the idea in general. Without a doubt, Word can indeed output "HTML" pages. OTOH, I don't mind putting a word in that it might not be a fun journey for someone who's just starting.

And I was definitely serious asking if anyone knew how to control the degree of complexity in the output. A few releases of Word back, I recall the output looking very clean and direct. If it's still possible to get it back like that with current versions of Word, the value would go way up for me.

I _used_ to appreciate Word's HTML output.

OK, let me clarify. I was NOT suggesting that word is a good HTML
editor. In fact I think is $ucks more than FrontPage. I was simply
pointing out that the option is there.

As I said, IF you want to learn HTML use notepad to start. If you want
to jump into designing "good"[1] web pages use a good tool, like
Macromedia's Studio or VS.NET.

[1] - "good" is a relative term. A lot of user interface design and easy
of use decisions go into making a good web page. These are thing we as
green screen developers are NOT used to having to deal with.
