Ok, so YUM won't work, that's a bummer, but we can still capitalize on the
rpms being delivered by AIX Toolbox. Incremental progress.

Have you used zypper on IBM i? Does IBM have something in the works that
you can share with us so we don't waste time heading down unfruitful paths?

When at cec2016.se I attended an AIX session and the presenter announced
that by the end of June, 2016 there would be not only more RPMs
available
but also a formal port of YUM**. Welp, it's here...

If my little sister wasn't getting married over the weekend I can tell
you
what I'd be doing :-)

Anyone want to kick the YUM tires and let the group know whether it
works
in PASE?

Not sure why they ported YUM, when it's already been replaced by DNF:

I also don't think you'll make much headway, since none of the RPMs will
match architecture/platform and YUM won't be able to figure out how to
resolve any dependencies. In order to get a package manager on the system,
it (and the packages) have to be actually built on (or cross-compiled
*for*) that platform.
