No, the iPhone isn't the ubiquitous device. I was referring to smartphones
in general. Web, messaging, phone, data...what used to take a laptop can now
be done with a device you can hold in your hand. Getting closer and closer
to the Dick Tracy wristwatch.

I wouldn't go so far as to say ubiquitous. The iPhone is #2 with a 25%
market share of Smartphones & a smaller market share if you include all
phones. More important to IT people - and what should be more important to
ISVs like looksoftware - the iPhone isn't the dominant business Smartphone;
RIM still has that locked up:

Not a bad idea for an app, but unless they have at least a BlackBerry and
maybe a 'Droid version, they're missing a lot of the Smartphone target
audience. This is why I'm a proponent of web apps. Something like the
looksoftware conference agenda done in HTML5 with a local/offline database
would run on several platforms.

BTW the iPhone lost to a BlackBerry in round two of the Smartphone March
Madness:

I think that's a very cool idea. We'll be seeing it more and more. The
ubiquitous communication device.

I kinda like it.
