Yeah, but you didn't answer the question. Would an integrated language
that
builds browser pages fit the bill for your hypothetical engineer? You
could
buy the integrated system and then provide whatever GUI interface they
needed.

I'm really asking - would that fit the need?

And there's a reason I'm asking - if there is a perceived market for good
applications written for i5/OS but with a GUI front end, then I can see
situations where, for example, an i5/OS GUI-fronted blade with an ERP
package pre-installed might be a good component in an IT department.

In fact, any of the database-intensive applications that never seem to run
very well with Java and/or SQL could be built for what I lovingly call
"iBlades" and then slipped into server farms.

Once they make their way in and the IT folks see how easy they are to
administer and back up and manage, then the iBlades can have more disk added
and begin to assimilate the Unix and Windows servers in virtual machines...
until one day... ALL YOU SERVER ARE BELONG TO US!!!!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Sorry.

But seriously, an application-specific iBlade is not a bad concept.
