The best computer operators and network specialists often seem to fit this
stereotype. Some recruiters specifically look for scruffier people to fill
these roles. Programmers are often less extreme versions of the same idea.
Personally I've learned to wear a suit but I arrive at work on my bicycle,
and I generally read my mail and check a few things before I go and shower.
Occasionally I get engrossed in something and someone has to remind me
mid-morning to go and change out of Lycra, especially if the CIO might be
around. Personally I don't see the problem. He's a cyclist himself.
