That's where I was afraid I was heading with ME.  We'd had the computer
for about a year, with performance steadily worsening.  Kids installing
games, etc.  So I decided to reinstall ME and that only made it worse.
After that the scanner no longer worked.  I'd already removed ME from
all desktops at work because it sucked and decided if I was going to
change I might as well go whole hog.  It's only been a short time, but
XP Pro seems at least as stable as W2K, for whatever _that's_ worth.

Shucks, if Mickeysoft keeps working at it, they'll be at the reliability
of the S/36 of 25 years ago before you know it!
