Okay, I should have thought of that. Just because we have an alliance
doesn't mean that the other countries have to help us in the attacking
stage, they would wait until we asked for help, correct? It has been a while
since I had my government class in high school.

If we're attacked, so are you. If you're attacked, so are we. That's what
the alliance is for. There is certainly going to be "a bunch of trouble",
but by acting together we have the best chance of getting the response
right and so avoiding a descent into global chaos. Incidentally, it is
clearly understood here that in spite of the alliance the US retains every
right to act on its own.
