If you are going to start journalling I would seriously look at getting
the following product:
Resource
ID Option Feature Description
5770SS1 42 5117 HA Journal Performance

There are those who will say that you do not need this if you are willing
to modify every program which has any journalled tables to tune it for
journalling. Since we are using third party packages I've found it much
more cost effective to just buy this.

We had a serious performance issue. We moved all of our stuff to SSD and
that hardly made a dent. We installed HA Journal Performance and that
shaved hours off of our month end.

You do have 70 days to get a key. Technically that's not supposed to be a
"try and buy" program but we used it for that. We installed it right
before month end. After witnessing the awesome difference it made we cut
the check.

A true IBM "try and buy" program normally involves a lot of fanfare,
marketing hype, some paperwork and delays and the try and buy length is
about half the length until the key expires in 70 days. Then they will
announce a new try and buy with much more generous time length but still
is well below the 70 days until key expiration. But marketing digs it.
