If you wanted to use FTP to transfer the file you could use the trim
options ...

TRIM 1
Trailing blanks of database records are not sent when transferring
database files using the file structure and stream mode. This is the
default setting.

TRIM 2
Trailing blanks of database records are not sent for all transfers,
including record structure and block mode.

TRIM
Displays the current setting of the Trim option.

Note: When the file transfer type is IMAGE (BINARY), the trailing blanks
of database records are not trimmed.

Here is an example of how to enter the subcommand when you want the
trailing blanks to be sent;

LOCSIte TRIM 0

If entering from a PC you may need to use

I have a command I created almost ten years ago that users use to copy
PF's to fixed-width text files on the IFS. It uses CRTPF to create a
QTEMP PF of the same length as the real PF. It then copies the real PF
into the QTEMP PF, and finally uses CPYTOSTMF to copy the QTEMP PF into a
stream file.

It's now been discovered that this trims trailing blanks, and this has
been deemed as unacceptable. I'm hoping to find a way to accomplish this
without doing it from scratch.

Any ideas?

Thanks
