- ABSTRACT: Users trying to save a file from Microsoft Office to a share
in the QDLS file system will get an error, "Document not saved".

I could maybe see this if they were using some crappy vendor package which
insisted on using QDLS because the vendor won't spend time upgrading (like
changing from CPYTOPCD to CPYTOIMPF).

But for general "let's use IBM i to do file serving" and still use QDLS?
To me that's like dropping a turd sandwich in the user's mouth because of
the 8.3 file naming alone. All the users will be thinking "that crappy
AS400 only supports the old 8.3 file naming". Just remap it and it over
with!

FWIW I was experiencing very similar problems with IFS files. We were
able to use Explorer to drag and drop between C: and X: but some Windows
programs did bizarre [1] things. Disabling SMB2 made it all go away.

Bizarre things:
File > Save As - worked.
File > Save (replace) - truncated the existing file to 0 bytes.
File > Save (new file) - Cannot create, or Not authorised, or Drive is
full, or it would write a few bytes (like some of the header line of a
.csv) before issuing some generic error.

Not just Microsoft; had similar issues with Firefox saving .csv files
and MapInfo saving geocoded tables.

Not every user either. For instance I could save .csv files just fine.
Not PDFs though.

These were to IFS directories shared via Netserver.
Accessed by Windows 7 clients.
Typical directory names:
/GIS
/Accounting
/home/buck

No, I didn't call this one in. My end user community would have gutted
me and tarred and feathered what was left if I didn't Fix It Now.

Upgrade from 7.2 TR4 to 7.3 TR1.
