OMG. This is all about null indicators? I had no idea. (It's true I
kind of tuned out because this stuff didn't look familiar or relevant
to me, but now that I go back and re-read some of the posts, this
thread's relation to nulls still isn't obvious to me.)

For my taste, RPG's support for nulls has always been... not very
supportive. It really puts a tremendous onus on the programmer to
manage nulls for herself or himself. My strategy for dealing with
nulls (not that I have to do it much at my shop) is to avoid using RPG
for that at almost any cost.
