At my last job all our files were journalled because we used Mimix. We ran a daily report that showed any changes to production made by developers. One of two managers had to review the report and sign off on it. Auditors randomly reviewed the reports.

We had to comply with JSOX standards (Japanese versions of SOX) and this seemed to satisify the auditors.
