Rob,

I reviewed all those links.
I know I have to do the steps "Prepare for Install" which include Allocate additional space for LIC
But the Allocate additional space for LIC is different than the error I'm getting on the image catalog 10=verify, correct.

Performing initial upgrade or replacement tasks https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzahc/rzahcrequiredtasks.htm

Required (If upgrading from IBM i 7.1): Allocating additional space for Licensed Internal Code https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzahc/allocatespacelic.htm

Change the links from 73 to 72 and it should be pretty much identical.

Speaking as a person who types up three 150 page documents for people to follow when doing upgrades (one for each of our Power 8's) it would be really sweet if people would follow the instructions. Luckily the people where I work do. Granted I do all these "Performing initial upgrade or replacement tasks". At least those which can be done without disruption.

Larry,

I did find this link, and discovered that Java 8 is not part of
B_GROUP1_05_, (came out after V7R2 was released).
So Java 8 also needed to be downloaded, unzipped, and added to the image
catalog.

http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_72/rzahc/rzaskMediaContent.htm

11 Loaded Developer_Kit_for_Java_8_32bit_5770_JV1_LCD8_
12 Loaded Developer_Kit_for_Java_8_64bit_5770_JV1_LCD8_

I ran 10=Verify

Verification of image catalog V7R2OSPTF failed with reason code 2.

02 - Installation of the release requires additional allocation of space
for
Licensed Internal Code.

I'm not sure why I'm getting this?

Works for me. When you verify the catalog you can sort it too and that
will correct any errors. But this order will install correctly.

As to missing anything that would only be stuff that's not on the base so
for example you have SMP in there and the OSS stuff. Once you verify this
catalog there is an option on GO LICPGM op 5 to verify you have all that's
needed.

Treat the .udf just like a .bin and the image catalog will be happy.

Larry,

First download came down as a .udf file

Is this correct?

B_GROUP1_01_IBM_i_RS_720-00_LCD8_2043_00.udf

I'm seeing inconsistencies.

Some are .udf
Some are .udf.zip
Some are iso.zip.

No FTP Option.
Select 'em all and use Download Director if you can. Best option.
If you can't use DD then yes yer stuck with one file at a time.

I finally got the ok to get V7R2 installed.
I'm on the ESS site.
Does each package have to be selected and downloaded individually or
is there a way to download everything?

or

Is there another option to download the .bin files directly to the IFS
via an FTP script?

Thank You
