Thanks much for the suggestion - looks as if it should work fine - a couple tests even to an InfoPrint 1352 worked as hoped.

Vernon,

Simply create a new 3812 device description for the printer that uses PJL,
SNMP, or IPP.

As long as the Inactivity timer (INACTTMR) parameter of both the *IPDS
device and the 3812 device isn't *NOMAX, then you can successfully share
the same physical device between the two logical printers.

Understood - and we do that to the print devices that are set up that way
- we also have several IPDS printers, and I'm not ready to change them to
something that uses Host Print Transform.

I am in a bind - we are at 7.1, we are trying to print signatures that are
in PNG file using the AFPRSC keyword instead of the PAGSEG keyword, because
we no longer will use a remote Windows box to convert graphics to PAGSEGs,
and HPT does not understand the AFPRSC keyword at 7.1 - and an update is
not happening until sometime next year.

So I'm doing a tap dance with 2 left feet and both tied together!

Hello

If the spooled file contains PCL code , I would try to send it directly to
a PCL printer... not an IPDS.

Subject: Message CPF420E when printing raw PCL in *USERASCII to
IPDS printer
Sent by: "MIDRANGE-L" <midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Yall

Trying to print *USERASCII to and IPDS printer - getting the following:

Message ID . . . . . . : CPF420E Severity . . . . . . . : 40
Message type . . . . . : Escape
Date sent . . . . . . : 09/27/16 Time sent . . . . . . : 15:04:30

Message . . . . : Page definition and form definition required for file
IN7862783.
Cause . . . . . : When printing XML data (DEVTYPE(*USERASCII)) to an
IPDS
printer configured with AFP(*YES), a page definition (PAGDFN
parameter) and
form definition (FORMDF parameter) must be specified on the printer
file. A
page definition and form definition is required to convert the XML
data to
IPDS. If a page definition and form definition were specified on the
printer
file, the page definition or form definition may not have been found
in the
library specified or in the job's library list or you may not be
authorized
to use the page definition or form definition. See previous messages
for
more information.
Recovery . . . : If a page definition and form definition was not
specified, change the printer file IN7862783 to specify a page
definition
and form definition using the Create Printer File (CRTPRTF), the
Change
Printer File (CHGPRTF), or the Override Printer File (OVRPRTF)
command.

The content of the *USERASCII spooled file is PCL, not XML. So I don't
know if there's a solution.

I am not sure which PAGDFN and FORMDF to specify. I any!

I've previously gone through some of the convert image API stuff, right
now I need something fairly quickly, if you please!
