I've done that, Rob. The stumbling block is that I have neither the
user QSECOFR password, nor the DST one (it's not the default in either
case) and QSRV does not have security permissions for either the DST
or the system.

What I'm wondering, though, is whether I could start a D IPL, get to
the DST and log in as QSECOFR (which should now use the default
password if starting from media) and then change or reset the user
QSECOFR password. Then I could do a B IPL, and use the user QSECOFR
account to reset the DST QSECOFR account.

If that might work, then once I had completed my business in the DST,
would it be better to complete the IPL and do a regular shutdown or do
an irregular power off from the control panel?

Thanks for the replies, folks.

I did buy them, but I didn't spend much and it is hobbying around.

The one that IPLs is running V5R2 - I don't have a printer hooked up
to it, so for now I used DSPLICKEY to the screen and paged through it,
photographing each one. It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing.

I'm not sure how much more I can do with it, though. I can only log in
as QSRV - whoever had it last changed the QSECOFR passwords in both
places, so I don't have as many permissions as I'd like. I do have a
PC with some IBM software that looks like it was supposed to connect
to it, so I might dig out a hub and see if I can get them talking.

On the one that won't IPL, 27409021 appears to translate to: "Array
not functional due to present hardware configuration. Perform
“SDIOP-PIP20” on page 618". That refers to "missing devices" and, sure
enough, this machine has only one drive in the expansion chassis, as
opposed to three in the other one. So, I wouldn't be at all surprised
if that turned out to be the problem.

First, though, I need to find media. As previously stated, a D IPL is
the only thing that I can do. Amazingly, there's none to be had on
ebay!
