When IBM says DDR4 standard memory they are saying (and the article does
explain it) that they don't use the CENTAUR buffering chip which means less
total memory but cheaper sticks. It doesnt mean that you can stick generic
memory on to the system. CCINs, FRU and all the other details that live in
VPD are checked within the machine when it self-tests and i haven't seen
generic memory working on POWER systems.
