Just a guess, but STRSQL may have just allowed the connection to use the default schema.

If no default schema is defined for a user account, SQL Server will assume dbo is the default schema.

There are subtle differences between STRSQL and a static SQL or Prepared sql statement in a SQLRPGLE program.

The dot dot wasn't a qualifier for the table, but a placeholder for the schema.

Database.schema.table

Subject: Re: Using SQL CONNECT problem to MS SQL database

<Darryl>
The problem I had is resolved. Somewhat of a stupid issue but that
comes from not being a MS SQL developer.

The issue with the double dot in the file name as in

AXTRN01..UNITOFMEASURE'

(which was provided by the DBA) was resolved by changing it to

AXTRN01.dbo.UNITOFMEASURE' ;

What had me is that the double dot works in STRSQL but would not work
in RPG.

... strange, very strange:
trying to use a doubled dot as a qualifier of a table (select ... from
somelib..sometable) from STRSQL on diffrent boxes, I always get a token not valid?
